Father Mike is a gentle nostalgic comedy that takes place in 1955 in the home of a proud Catholic family, the Francises. Mother and father are doing their best to be devout in an age of change. However, rapidly churning social forces hedge them in. When their only son announces that he may leave the seminary because he’s fallen in love, one daughter announces plans to elope, and a second daughter considers breaking off an engagement, the home is turned upside down. The family comically struggles with questions of faith, change, and love in an innocent American era. About the PlaywrightTJ Edwards is a playwright and actor living in New York where he is an acting company member at the Pearl Theatre, an off-Broadway classical theatre company.
