Germinous Seeds

Part of the New American Playwrights Project
By David Rush
Directed by Michael Harding

August 21, 22, 29, 2008 • 10 a.m.

In the Auditorium Theatre

Germinous Seeds uses Herman Melville’s life and work as a point of departure for three inter-related stories: an aging professor of Melville studies being destroyed by a deceitful graduate student; Melville and Hawthorne each remembering their past as they prepare for their last ever meeting; and an adaptation of Melville’’s disturbing work, Bartleby the Scrivener. Together they weave an intriguing exploration of the mystery of human identities and the inability to connect. As a tour de force, two actors perform three roles each.
