The professional actor and playwright William Shakespeare wrote his own plays. So there! Every standard we would use to prove Tennessee Williams wrote A Streetcar Named Desire we can use to prove Shakespeare wrote Shakespeare. Paul Edwards, professor at Northwestern University said that when I was an undergraduate there and he was correct. The man that wrote those plays understood explicitly what one needed to have a good show—doubling, time to rest in act four when playing Rosalind in As You Like It, why the middle of the play is the best place to kill a major character (think Mercutio).
