March 21 – April 5, 2011

March 21:  USA
Group departs USA
March 22: Sorrento
Group arrival and transfer from Rome airport to visit the Herculaneum/Ercolano Excavations with use of the Whisper Audio headset system. Arrive in Sorrento and check in to the hotel.  Welcome drink. (L, D)
March 23: Sorrento
After breakfast we are on our way for our Capri Excursion including the Blue Grotto (weather permitting). The late afternoon for shopping and picture taking. (B)
March 24: Rome
Today we are on our way to the Eternal City. This day will be Classic Rome with a tour of all levels of the Colosseum and the Forum and Circus Maximus. We’ll also visit the Pantheon. Following our highlight dinner, we will have an evening drive where we will see the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, and so much more. (B, D)
March 25: Rome
Today is Christian Rome. It will be an early day, as we want to be among the first in line to enter the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter Basilica the largest religious building in the world. After an exciting morning, the rest of the day is yours for shopping, or whatever you like. (B)
March 26: Rome
Today is Underground Rome, and we will visit the Catacombs and continue on to the Ostia Antica Ruins. We’ll also see the Old Appian Way with the rest of the day for your own agenda. (B)
March 27: Orvieto/Siena
We say good-bye to Rome and are on our way to Siena, making a stop in ancient Orvieto with a ride in the funicular where we will see the Duomo of Orvieto. Continuing on, we’ll also visit the Possa de San Patrizio and the well of St. Patricks, and we will have dinner together. (B, D)
March 28: Pisa/Florence
Today we are traveling through Tuscany, the famous wine country of Italy, where we will take part in a wine tasting and continue on to Pisa to see the Square of Miracles with its breathtaking Cathedral, the marble Baptistry, and the famous Leaning Tower. Then on to Florence. Tonight we’ll have a special highlight dinner. (B,D)
March 29: Florence
After breakfast we’ll be taking a drive where we will view the Piazzale Michelangelo and continue on to see the Duomo/Cathedral, the Campanile, and the magnificent Gates of Paradise. We’ll also enjoy a visit to the The Academia where we will see Michelangelo’s famous “The David” and continue on to visit the Medici Chapel (Chapelle Medicee). The rest of the day is yours for some serious shopping. (B,D)
 
March 30: Santa Margherita Liguire
Today will be memorable, as we make our way to the Italian Riviera, where we will have our very own cooking lesson followed by lunch. Then we’ll continue on to visit one of the most beautiful towns on the Riviera, Portofino. (If you are An Affair to Rememberfan with Cary Grant and Debra Kerr, you’ll remember this beautiful coastal town as the place where they visited his grandmother.) (B,L,D)
March 31: Venice
There is no other city in the world to compare to Venice, and we are on our way this morning after breakfast. We’ll have a special lunch, get settled into our hotel, and have a lovely dinner. (B,L,D)
April 1: Venice
Exploring Venice will be the order of the day as we begin our walking to see the Bridge of Sighs and visit the Doges Palace and St. Mark’s Basilica. Later we’ll see a demonstration of glass blowing when we visit one of Venice’s famous factories. The rest of day is up to you. (B)
April 2: Venice
This morning we are off to visit Teatro La Fenice de Venizia (the Venice Opera), and Chiesa de San Zaccaria, a convent built centuries ago for wayward noblemen’s daughters.  After our visit, we’ll continue on together for a cruise of the Venice Laguna and have a special lunch together. Later on we’ll take a gondola ride on some of the small canals of Venice. (B, L)
April 3: Verona/Milano/Baveno
Get ready for a wonderful day as we are on way to see Juliet’s Balcony and view Scaliger’s Castle on our way to see The Last Supper by Leonardo DiVinci. (B)
April 4: Baveno
Today we’ll enjoy a beautiful scenic drive through some of the most beautiful country in northern Italy. There will be a little time when we return for last minute postcards and souvenir shopping. We’ll have our farewell dinner tonight and pack our suitcases for a mid-morning departure tomorrow morning for home. (B, D)
April 5: Drive to Milan
After our last breakfast together as a group, we’ll be on our way to Milan for our departure home. (B)
