"Master of this design."
— The Tempest

The 2017 season directors, designers, and artists meant recently in Cedar City to put more details to their dreams for the season. Everything from actors to scripts, from costumes to scenery, from lights to sound was discussed.

Excitement and anticipation filled the room as theatre professionals from across the country met in Cedar City on January 4–9 for design meetings, kicking the 2017 season into high gear. The plays in the Engelstad Shakespeare Theatre (Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It, and Shakespeare in Love) and the Randall L. Jones Theatre (Treasure Island, Guys and Dolls, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and The Tavern) were the topics of discussion. Meetings to discuss Shakespeare's Long Lost First Play (abridged), How To Fight Loneliness, and The Greenshow will take place later this winter.

To help you begin to see what the plays this summer may look like, we have put together a slideshow of costume and set designs. Click through, and you can start to see a bit of the excitement and beauty that will be on our stages in a few short months.

Please remember, however, these are preliminary designs and may change before the plays open this summer.
