Scale Model Pallets Projects

OBJECTIVE

Technical Theatre students will learn to construct, produce, and solve construction skills while building a scale pallet.

INTENDED AUDIENCE

9th - 12th Grade Technical Theatre Students (Tech II)

TIME

Two class periods

MATERIALS

  • 1 full-size pallet
  • Architect ruler / Scale rulers
  • Tape Measures
  • Ripped 1x4 down to scale or use popsicle sticks
  • Use either hot glue or a 5/8 brad to build a pallet
  • Staple guns for brads

OUTLINE

  1. INSTRUCTION AND ACTIVITYInstruct the students how to use an architect ruler.
    Have the students measure a pallet, and then use the architect scale on a 1” scale.
    Student measure out the pre-cut top slate and runners and assemble using hot glue or a 5/8 brad.

ASSESSMENT

Students complete the building of the “Pallet Project“ and then receive an assessment based on a rubric from another student in the class or a family member if online.

Students can take the project home at the completion of the project.
